Counseling

Counseling for individuals ages 5 and up and for couples. Together, we will use a variety of therapeutic techniques to focus on your inner strengths, abilities, and resources to learn or improve coping skills. In the initial session, we will discuss what issues you want to work on and develop goals for your treatment plan and future sessions. At your pace, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions and process these together. Healing is a journey we will travel together.

Areas of focus: anxiety, depression, parenting support, divorce, relationship issues, conflict resolution, grief & loss, stress management, transition and adjustment issues, work and career issues, children and adolescent issues, guilt, and shame.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is just one option for therapy. Hypnosis is a voluntary, conscious experience that combines deep relaxation with focused attention on internal events. You remain in full control at all times. Hypnosis is a natural state we enter and exit all the time, on our own. We can be in a light hypnotic state when we are daydreaming, driving down familiar roads, listening to someone talk, or becoming fully absorbed in a film or book. Clinical hypnosis uses these natural states and incorporates visualization and suggestions that are intentional, positive, and fully aligned with your values and goals. Hypnosis can help you gain control over behaviors you would like to change.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese type of energy therapy. The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Everything and everyone is energy. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks may cause illness.

During a reiki session, the client remains clothed, and my hands will gently touch or hover a few inches above the client's body at specific positions over the body. Reiki may improve sleep, mood, fatigue, discomfort, peacefulness, and clear energy blocks in the body. Reiki is being used at many hospitals, including Sentara's Carrillo Kern Center for Integrative Therapies in Norfolk, VA.

Fees

Counseling & Hypnotherapy Self-pay Initial evaluation - $150 Follow-up sessions - $130

Sliding scale fee available with proof of income.

Payment is made through the Headway website where you schedule your appointment.

Reiki is self-pay. Insurance does not cover reiki 60 - 90 minutes - $60
